HERTZ UNVEILS NEW NATIONWIDE DAILY RATES AIMED AT BUSINESS TRAVELERS
PARK RIDGE, N.J., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hertz Corporation, the world's leading car rental company, capitalizing on the current surge in airline bookings and targeting the millions of business travelers not covered by corporate car rental contracts, unveiled its new simplified Hertz No. 1 Daily Rates, with no Saturday-night keep requirement.
The new, two-tier rate structure, available at all of Hertz's approximately 800 corporate locations nationwide now through June 30, 1992, offers "Book Ahead Rates" starting as low as $24.99 per day for an economy class car such as a Ford Festiva, or "Same Day Rates" for the same car class starting at $28.99. Book Ahead Rates must be booked at least three days in advance. Same Day Rates may be booked as late as two hours prior to pick up. Availability is limited and the renter must present at the time of rental a valid airline ticket for concurrent air travel.
"Hertz' introduction of a $14.99 Saturday-keep rate was bold and competitive, but it didn't address the needs of mid-week business renters not covered by corporate contracts. Now Hertz is making a low rate available to them at hundreds of Hertz locations in all 50 states," said Craig R. Koch, Hertz executive president and president of its North American Rent A Car division.
 Other Book Ahead daily rates are: $28.99 for a subcompact, $32.99 for a compact; $35.99 for a mid-size, $39.99 for a standard, and $42.99 for a full-size car.
 Other Same Day daily rates are: $31.99 for a subcompact, $35.99 for a compact, $39.99 for a mid-size $42.99 for a standard and $45.99 for a full-size car.
Rates are lower in Florida and higher in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, and New York.
According to Hertz, rentals under the new Daily Rate program will also generate points for business travelers enrolled in American, Northwest, United and US Air frequent flyer programs as well as Marriott's Honored Guest Program.
"Our action represents an aggressive move by Hertz to broaden market penetration in the non-weekly, non-weekend, non-contract mid-week car rental market," said Koch.
Hertz operates from more than 5,000 locations in over 120 countries with a worldwide fleet of approximately 420,000 vehicles.
