HERTZ NAMES CRAIG R. KOCH PRESIDENT AND COO; JOSEPH R. NOTHWANG TO U.S. RENT A CAR VP AND GENERAL MANAGER

 PARK RIDGE, N.J., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Craig R. Koch, a 22-year executive with The Hertz Corporation, has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Hertz, the largest company in the car rental industry. Mr. Koch, who joined Hertz in 1971, was previously an executive vice president of the corporation and president of the North American Rent A Car Division. The announcement was made by Hertz chairman and chief executive officer Frank A. Olson.
 "With this appointment, Mr. Koch assumes operating responsibility for Hertz' worldwide car rental operations," said Mr. Olson.
 At the same time Joseph R. Nothwang has been appointed vice president and general manager of U.S. Rent A Car for Hertz, reporting to Mr. Koch. Mr. Nothwang, previously division vice president for Hertz' West Central Region, based in Denver, has been with Hertz since 1976.
 Mr. Koch, who has worked for Hertz in executive positions in both the U.S. and abroad, holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Lehigh University.
 Mr. Nothwang holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Citadel and an MBA from the University of Northern Colorado.
 Hertz has over 5,000 car rental locations in 130 countries.
 In addition to its worldwide car rental operations, Hertz subsidiaries include Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation, the world's largest construction and industrial equipment rental company; Hertz Claim Management and Hertz Technologies, Inc.
 Started in 1918, Hertz is this year marking its 75th anniversary.
