Negotiations between driver Bryan Herta Bryan Herta (b. May 23 1970, Warren, Michigan) is an American race car driver. He currently drives for Andretti Green Racing, which is co-owned by former CART and IRL driver Michael Andretti, in the ALMS, although his career has primarily been spent in open-wheel cars  and Formula One Team Minardi have stalled, but they are from from dead.

Herta, a Hart High graduate and Valencia resident, was in talks with Team Minardi to compete in the final three races of the Formula One season, including the U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Coordinates:

Indianapolis Motor Speedway, located in Speedway, Indiana (a separate town completely surrounded by Indianapolis) in the United States, is the second-oldest
 on Sept. 29.

But Team Minardi has decided to return driver Alex Yoong to one of its cars and re-evaluate its plans for the 2003 season.

Herta evidently is in those plans. He said he will test with Team Minardi at the end of the Formula One season.

``I think it looks good,'' Herta said. ``It's so hard for me to judge. I thought I was going to do the U.S. Grand Prix and that didn't work out. At least the team's stayed in contact with me.''

Meanwhile, Herta will be preparing for the American Le Mans Series The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) is a sports car racing series based in the United States and Canada. It consists of a series of endurance and sprint races, and was created in the spirit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  race Sunday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is a paved road racing track used for both auto racing and motorcycle racing, originally constructed in 1957 near Monterey, California, USA.

The current racetrack is 2.238 miles in length (3.
 in Monterey.

Herta, who is driving for Panoz Motor Sports on the American Le Mans Series, will be returning to the track where he won two CART races as driver for team owner Bobby Rahal.

His two victories at Laguna Seca were his only victories in the CART series. In addition, he won three of his seven pole positions in CART at Laguna Seca.

Herta said his success at Laguna Seca probably won't translate for the American Le Mans Series race.

``How other people might look at it, I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

"Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party.
,'' Herta said. ``It's a completely different car. Obviously, I am hoping to do well.''

The Panoz entries have recorded one podium finish in the three years of American Le Mans Series racing at Laguna Seca. Two Panoz entries ran well at Laguna Seca last year, but the results were disappointing. Both cars were collected in accidents; one finished 21st, the other was 25th.

``They ran very well there last year,'' said Herta, who was not with Panoz in 2001. The team has decided to make some adjustments to the Panoz LMP-900 entry for the Laguna Seca race and use the body design from last year's race.

``We've struggled this year with aerodynamics aerodynamics, study of gases in motion. As the principal application of aerodynamics is the design of aircraft, air is the gas with which the science is most concerned. ,'' Herta said. ``We've been on a knife's edge.''

The team has won two races this season, both by drivers David Brabham and Jan Magnussen. Herta and Bill Auberlen have combined for some impressive finishes, as well, but it has been the Audi prototype teams that have risen to the top this season.

``It'll be interesting,'' Herta said. ``This year, we've worked hard to fight with the Audis. Everywhere we go, we come in as the underdogs. That will be certainly true at Laguna Seca.''

--NASCAR Winston West: Driver Greg Pursley of Santa Clarita is running out of time to catch Mike David in the NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. Pursley trails David by five points as the Winston West heads to Roseburg, Ore., for tonight's NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Douglas County Speedway, the ninth race of 10 in the 2002 season. Fellow rookie Brett Thompson sits in third place, seven points behind David, and is a threat to capture the Winston West rookie title.

The last time a Winston West race was run at Douglas County Speedway was in 1971. Hershell McGriff won at the then-quarter-mile oval. The track has gone through $400,000 in renovations and now is a half-mile oval with 11-degree banking in the corners.
