HERITAGE PETROLEUMS: 5 OUT OF 6 HOLES ENCOUNTER ANOMALOUS CONCENTRATIONS OF GOLD

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Directors of Heritage Petroleums, Inc., are pleased to announce further to our news release of December 16, 1993, that the first preliminary drill program on the Company's Laura Claims, Crescent Valley, Nevada, has been completed. Five out of six holes drilled encountered geochemical anomalous concentrations of gold within a pyritic jasperoid zone. Anomalous intercepts ranging from .006 to .036 oz/ton gold were discovered over a strike length of 1,200 feet.
The 30 foot intersection of 0.020 oz/ton gold in hole 93-5, occurs in the northern most hole which also intersected a felsite intrusion. This intrusion lies within an east-west trend of felsite intrusions that strike across the Laura property. Similar felsic intrusions are associated with the gold mineralization at the nearby Cortez mine. Future exploration would focus on testing this intrusive system in the vicinity of hole 93-5, along strike and to depth, and on testing other jasperoid zones.
Heritage owns a 100% interest in three groups of mining properties totaling 96 claims and encompassing approximately 1,700 acres located in the Battle Mountain Trend. The Cross Claims are bordered by Homestake to the north and Newmont to the south. The Tree and Band Claims adjoin the recent gold discovery by the consortium of Hemlo Gold and Gold Giant Minerals.
