HERE'S TO MORE PEOPLE STORIES IN 2007.

Byline: -- Angie Valencia-Martinez

Lately we've been receiving stories about people's New Year's resolutions A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until the set . We've also received a couple of stories from people reflecting on the past year and what it has meant to them.

In my case, the past year has been great. I will always remember 2006 because of my pregnancy. I will remember the good times (baby's first kick, punch, hiccup hiccup or hiccough, involuntary spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm followed by a sharp intake of air, which is abruptly stopped by a sudden, involuntary closing of the glottis (opening between the vocal cords); the consequent blocking of air ) and the bad times (getting gestational diabetes Gestational Diabetes Definition

These are stories that I will someday tell Frank, who is due Feb. 10. In the meantime Adv. 1. in the meantime - during the intervening time; "meanwhile I will not think about the problem"; "meantime he was attentive to his other interests"; "in the meantime the police were notified"

, these little experiences are stories-in-the-making that for now only my husband and I, along with our friends, can laugh about.

Every day, we're bombarded with stories about war, crime and scandals. Once in a while, it's nice to read stories about love and life, those that touch the human spirit.

Valleynews.com is the right forum. It connects people to their neighbors.

In Burbank, we had Richard Colon, who blogged about his daughter's wedding from preparation to conclusion.

In Tarzana, we heard from Kathleen Melton, who regularly writes about her experiences as a mother of two young boys.

Another regular, Pam Vetter, was all over the place covering everything from breaking news to American Youth Soccer Organization stories.

And last, but not least, we have Robert Greene, whose latest installment of ``How Green Was My Valley'' is featured on page 6. The series is about his life growing up in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

during the 1940s. His stories have elicited readers' comments who thank Greene for bringing back memories.

I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed their stories to valleynews.com in the past year. And I hope to see more in the future.
