HENRY TO SUCCEED QUINDLEN AS DU PONT'S CFO

 WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Du Pont (NYSE: DD) today announced that John J. Quindlen, senior vice president and chief financial officer, has elected to retire later this year after 39 years of service.
 Quindlen, 60, will be succeeded upon retirement by Senior Vice President C. L. "Jerry" Henry, a 30-year veteran with extensive managerial experience in Du Pont Fibers who headed Corporate Plans and later formed and headed Du Pont Electronics. Henry, 51, will begin working immediately with Quindlen to further his knowledge of challenges facing a world-class Finance function.
 Corporate Plans is being transferred to Du Pont Finance and will be headed by Vice President Jeffrey M. Lipton. Lipton, 50, will report to Henry and become a member of the Du Pont Operating Group.
 The Office of the Chairman will be expanded to include Henry along with Chairman Edgar S. Woolard, Vice Chairman Jack A. Krol, Vice Chairman Constantine S. Nicandros, Human Resources Senior Vice President D. John Ogren and Quindlen.
 A native of Philadelphia, Quindlen has served as chief financial officer since December 1984. He joined Du Pont in 1954 in the accounting division of what was then the Treasurer's Department and served in various staff and management positions. He was graduated from Villanova University in 1954 with a bachelor of science degree in economics, and received a master of business administration degree from Drexel University in 1960.
 Among his many civic and professional activities, Quindlen is a member of The Officers' Conference Group, the Conference Board's Council of Financial Executives and the Private Sector Council, and a trustee of The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, the Medical Center of Delaware, Inc., the Delaware Community Foundation and the Tax Foundation.
 Henry joined Du Pont in 1963 as a process engineer at the Chattanooga, Tenn., plant and held various positions in Du Pont Fibers' production, planning and management before being promoted to a vice president of fibers in 1984 and vice president - corporate plans in 1985. He was named group vice president of the newly formed Du Pont Electronics in 1985 and assumed the position of senior vice president in November 1990.
 A native of Chattanooga, Henry was graduated in 1963 with a bachelor of science degree in engineering physics from the University of Tennessee, where he worked toward an M.B.A. degree. He is a trustee of the Medical Center of Delaware, a director and executive committee member of the YMCA of Delaware, director of the Bank of Delaware and a member of the University of Tennessee advisory board.
 Lipton, who has served as vice president of corporate marketing and continuous improvement since December 1991, joined Du Pont in 1965 as a group supervisor in the former Newark, N.J., plant. He subsequently held various positions in the former Pigments Department, Energy and Materials Department, Central Research and Development, Photo Products Department, New England Nuclear subsidiary before being named vice president - Du Pont Medical Products in 1986 and vice president - Du Pont Polymers in 1987.
 A native of New York City, Lipton was graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineerin He is chairman of the board of the Medical Center of Delaware Holding Company, and serves on the boards of the New Jersey Academy for Aquatic Sciences and the Girls Clubs of Delaware, Inc.
