HELPING THEIR SCHOOL THOMSEN TOP VOLUNTEER MORE THAN 50 RECOGNIZED AT KNIGHT EVENT.

PALMDALE -- Knight High School volunteers were honored for their service at the school's inaugural Volunteer Appreciation Awards breakfast.

Kerry Thomsen was named Volunteer of the Year, and her name was the first engraved en·grave

 on a perpetual trophy that will be displayed at the school.

Also honored were people recognized as Volunteers of the Month: Blanca Gonzalez for August, Diane Shorter for September, Patricia Franco for November, Diane Gonsalves for December, Deborah Davis-Frey for January, Richard Gonsalves for February, Joyce Cooper for March, Terecia Crouch-Murphy for April and Navonica Easterling for May.

Thomsen was also Volunteer of the Month for October.

Also honored were students Danillo Abrenica and Catherine Barillas for implementing the school's Web site for volunteers.

The breakfast was held June 10 at the Cascades restaurant.

Guest speaker was Lancaster Mayor Henry Hearns. Students Keli Marshall, Jami Marshall, Sabrina Abram and Erica Cortez performed music on violin violin, family of stringed musical instruments having wooden bodies whose backs and fronts are slightly convex, the fronts pierced by two f-hole-shaped resonance holes. , cello cello or 'cello: see violin.

 and concerned community members. They help in classrooms and in the student store, do clerical work, staff special events, help coach sports teams, tutor TUTOR - A Scripting language on PLATO systems from CDC.

 students, help during class registration and aid the school nurse, among other tasks.
