Here is a partial list of ways you can help: Financial donations Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals of Portland and the Pet Adoption Pet adoption usually refers to the process of taking guardianship of and responsibility for a pet that a previous owner has abandoned or otherwise abdicated responsibility for. Network of Lebanon are raising money to send a truck and stock trailer to the Gulf states to pick up stranded pets. The Confederated Tribes of Siletz The Confederated Tribes of Siletz in the United States is a federally recognized confederation of 27 Native American tribal bands that once inhabited a range from northern California to southwest Washington. Indians and tribal members have raised more than $6,000 to send to the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross. for relief efforts. The Register-Guard is accepting donations from the public at its offices at 3500 Chad Drive in Eugene during business hours BUSINESS HOURS. The time of the day during which business is transacted. In respect to the time of presentment and demand of bills and notes, business hours generally range through the whole day down to the hours of rest in the evening, except when the paper is payable it a bank or by a Monday through Friday. The money will go to the Red Cross hurricane relief fund. Benefit concerts, garage sales, raffles and car washes The Brattain Quilt Club at Brattain Elementary School elementary school: see school. is raffling off a quilt made by fourth- and fifth- graders. The quilt is a striking red, navy and creme 9-patch, measuring 50 inches by 62 inches. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and can be purchased at Brattain Elementary School, 425 N. 10th St. in Springfield. The drawing will be at Brattain's open house on Tuesday. A car wash to help raise money for Hurricane Katrina French ecclesiastic who founded the Congregation of the Mission (1625) and the Daughters of Charity (1633). to give to the displaced families. Catholic Community Services of Lane County and Washburne Neighbors will host a benefit sale Sept. 16-17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Community Service Center, 1025 G St. in Springfield. Music and poetry will be on the menu as Tsunami Books hosts a hurricane benefit on Sept. 16. `Beatnik jazz' artist Ike Eichenberg, Eugene's own troubadour troubadour One of a class of lyric poets and poet-musicians, often of knightly rank, that flourished from the 11th through the 13th century, chiefly in Provence and other regions of southern France, northern Spain, and northern Italy. Brain Cutean and poet margareta waterman will perform at 5:30 p.m., 2585 Willamette St. Admission is free, and all donations will benefit Katrina relief. Patrons also are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner. Diablo's and the Downtown Lounge, 959 Pearl St., will host a benefit party in conjunction with International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Sept. 19. The event, featuring live music and DJs, begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free, and donations will be collected at the door. I'Chele and the Circle of Light, Vibe Nation, Bubbler Brothers, Christofari and Shaloma will team up for a benefit reggae concert on Sept. 21 at Cozmic Pizza, 199 W. Eighth Ave. Admission to the 8 p.m. show is a suggested donation of $8, with 100 percent of profits dedicated to Second Harvest, an agency that provides food for hurricane victims. In-kind donations The Long Tom Grange and the newly formed Oregon Country Trails have offered assistance to the Oregon Emergency Management office to help place evacuees Resident or transient persons who have been ordered or authorized to move by competent authorities, and whose movement and accommodation are planned, organized and controlled by such authorities. from Hurricane Katrina in rural homes throughout Lane County. The Oregon National Guard and the state Department of Education are asking for people to fill new backpacks with pens, papers, books and other school supplies for students and teachers in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Businesses donating proceeds Northwest Christian College Northwest Christian College is a private, liberal arts college located in Eugene, Oregon and is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. will sell parking in its lot for the Duck game and donate the proceeds to the American Red Cross. Spaces at 11th Avenue and Kincaid Street will be sold for $10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 70 spaces are available. McGrath's Fish House is donating $1 for every dessert sold to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Alethalou's Mercantile, 145 Pioneer Parkway in Springfield, will donate 10 percent of sales to the Salvation Army for hurricane relief today and Oct. 1 and 2. The mercantile is also accepting FOOD for Lane County donations. Dance Party at Cuthbert will donate 50 percent of ticket receipts from Jazz at Lincoln Center's Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra Dance Party to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Cuthbert Amphitheater. Arby's Restaurants will donate 10 percent of all sales profits Monday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. until closing.
