Many local businesses, organizations and public and private agencies are collecting goods and raising money for the hurricane relief effort. Here is a list of some of the ways that you can help:

Financial donations

An account to support the New Orleans-area family of Lane County Commissioner Bobby Green has been established at Umpqua Bank, under the name `The Bobby Green Family Relief Fund."

Edison students are having a penny drive through September to benefit Habitat for Humanity's hurricane relief effort. Individuals and businesses are invited to match donations brought in by students. Contact Principal Tom Maloney at 687-3284.

Benefit concerts, garage sales, raffles and car washes

Beaver State Ceramic Association will have a rummage sale booth at Maudie Mae's Barn & Pasture Sale, Saturday and Sunday , 29085 18th St., Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, . All proceeds go to Katrina Relief. Call Sandy Barnes, 541-998-3007.

The Village Inn Restaurant & Lounge will hold three events this weekend, with all proceeds being split between the Red Cross and Salvation Army Salvation Army, Protestant denomination and international nonsectarian Christian organization for evangelical and philanthropic work.  will be held in the restaurant's parking lot from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. Texas hold 'em Texas hold 'em (also hold'em, holdem) is the most popular poker variant played in casinos in the United States.[1] Hold'em is a community card game where each player may use any combination of the five community cards and their own two hole cards  games in the lounge starting 1 p.m. Sunday followed by live music, with the $5 cover benefitting the agencies. Always Birds First Rescue will have a garage sale at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3050 Game Farm Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, to raise money to save birds affected by the disaster. Call Sally Gilliam, 461-5851.

A 26-hour music marathon to benefit Second Harvest's Katrina efforts will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Hilton Eugene's Playwrights Hall, 66 E. Sixth Ave. The music will continue until 6 p.m. Sunday. Call 746-4935 for more information.

The rock band Lunaractive will host a concert to benefit Katrina relief efforts at 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at the North Bend North Bend is the name of several places in the United States of America:

Bro's Trio, a jazz fusion Jazz fusion (or "jazz-rock fusion" or "fusion") is a musical genre that merges elements of jazz with other styles of music, particularly pop, rock, folk, reggae, funk, metal, country, R&B, hip hop, electronic music and world music.  band, and other musical guests will perform a concert at 9 p.m. today at McShane's Bar & Grill, 86495 College View Road. A percentage of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Mercy Corps Mercy Corps is a non-profit organization engaged in humanitarian aid and development activities. Mercy Corps works amid disasters, conflicts, chronic poverty and instability. Since 1979, Mercy Corps has provided more than $1.3 billion in assistance to people in 100 nations.  for hurricane relief efforts.

Blue Luna, 1280 Willamette St., will host a roots reggae Roots reggae is a subgenre of reggae that concerns itself with the life of the ghetto sufferer.[1] Lyrical themes include poverty, social issues, resistance to government oppression, repatriation, and Rastafari.  event from 4:20 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, featuring DJ Pristine, MC Article Infinity and 3 Blind Mics. Half of all proceeds from the event will be split between Mercy Corp and the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross. , to benefit hurricane relief efforts.

Diablo's/the Downtown Lounge, 959 Pearl St., will turn its usual Ladies Night DJ dance party into a benefit for Mercy Corps, at 10 p.m. on Thursday. A suggested donation will be collected at door.

, clothing and children's toys to be delivered to the stricken area. Mac's also will make a cash donation to the Red Cross for every new radiator purchased in September. Donations can be dropped off at 2270 W. 11th Ave. in Eugene.

The Oregon National Guard and the state Department of Education are asking for people to fill new backpacks with pens, papers, books and other school supplies for students and teachers in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Drop off the items at any Oregon National Guard Armory by Sept. 29. Go to: www.ode.state .or.us/GO/Katrina for a list of the most needed items.

Crossfire A multi-GPU interface from ATI for connecting two ATI display adapters together for faster graphics rendering on one monitor. CrossFire machines require PCI Express slots, a CrossFire-enabled motherboard and, depending on which models are used, either a pair of ATI Radeon adapters or one  World Outreach Ministries in Springfield is collecting food, medicine and household goods to be trucked to Louisiana. Businesses donating proceeds

Tasty Thai Kitchen, 80 E. 29th, will donate all proceeds from phad Thai dishes sold on Oct. 5.

Shelter Animal Resource Alliance will donate 20 percent of the proceeds from a pet portrait sale from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to Operation Waggin-Tail, a Katrina pet rescue effort by Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals and Pet Adoption Pet adoption usually refers to the process of taking guardianship of and responsibility for a pet that a previous owner has abandoned or otherwise abdicated responsibility for.  Network. Alethalou's Mercantile, 145 Pioneer Parkway in E. Springfield, will donate 10 percent of sales to the Salvation Army for hurricane relief Oct. 1-2. The mercantile also is accepting FOOD for Lane County donations.
