Lawrence ``Large Larry'' Lajeunesse, a 468-pound Hells Angel, and his longtime girlfriend, Tami Ann Brannigan, were shot to death in the converted industrial garage where they lived, police said Tuesday.

Police suspect robbers killed Lajeunesse, 44, and Brannigan, 35.

So do family members who walked through the couple's ransacked home and scrap-metal and car-repair business Tuesday.

Michael Lajeunesse, who called his 6-foot-5-inch brother a ``big teddy bear,'' said he noticed that gems, antique watches, knives and swords the couple collected appeared to be missing.

``They thought the little trinkets were more important than my brother and Tami's lives,'' said Michael Lajeunesse, who was present when the bodies were taken away.

``I feel like I've got an ice pick in my heart,'' he said. ``I hoped it was somebody else and not my brother, but when I saw the size of that bag on that gurney, I knew it was him.''

Two fellow Hells Angels from the San Fernando chapter who had not heard from Lajeunesse for several days stopped by his home in the 9300 block of North Oso Avenue on Monday and found him dead on his bed in a back room, police said.

They called police, who found Brannigan in the adjoining industrial unit the couple also rented, said Officer Dwayne White of the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Robbery/Homicide Division detectives were at the industrial park through the night, but would not comment on the case.

After police left Tuesday, family members walked through the collectible-filled garage. The family was together two weeks ago in Simi Valley for their first reunion in about 15 years, they said.

Lajeunesse's shiny, maroon Harley-Davidson motorcycle remained in one room alongside a glass showcase of miniature model cars. In another room, his Hells Angels jacket hung on a cabinet.

Michael Lajeunesse said his brother had a Hells Angels tattoo on his back and was wearing his new 10-year Hells Angels belt buckle when they last saw each other.

``He was proud about being a Hells Angel,'' Michael Lajeunesse said. ``I play the bad guy in the movies, but he's living it. But he was a big teddy bear.''

He described his brother's girlfriend as a quiet, friendly person who was into computers, sewing on her 1900 antique machine and tending to her cats.

``She was skinny. He was heavy. I guess they loved each other,'' Michael Lajeunesse said of the couple, who were together at least 10 years.

As he sifted through rooms, some packed to the ceiling with tires, auto parts, antiques, law books and collectibles, Michael Lajeunesse, older than his slain brother by 18 months, recalled growing up with three brothers.

Working on cars was a natural for Larry, he said. ``He could pick up a transmission by himself that weighed 300 pounds and throw it on the truck. Changing a motor to him is like changing socks.''

As she walked through her son's home Tuesday, Agnes Vooris held a clay hand print Larry Lajeunesse made when he was 6. On the back it read, ``Mother's Day 1960, Larry.''

Friends and neighbors in the industrial complex described Lajeunesse and Brannigan as quiet and always willing to lend a hand. ``It's disturbing,'' said Larry Bjork, who works at a business next door. ``He was a real good guy.''
