HELLO LUCKY HOLDS ON FOR WIN.Byline: Daily News Staff and Wire Reports Hello Lucky held off late-charging long shot No Bull Baby to win Sunday's $85,350 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Santa Anita in Arcadia. Ridden by Gary Stevens, Hello Lucky carried 118 pounds and ran the six-furlong course in 1:10. She's a Jewel, the 8-5 favorite, broke slowly and finished ninth. Hello Lucky won $50,940 to boost her career earnings to $142,140. --Sulamani overtook Simonas down the stretch, then cruised to a 1 1/2- length victory at the $1.5 million Pattison Canadian International at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. The win was the ninth in 17 career starts for Sulamani and the $900,000 winner's share boosted his career earnings to over $5 million. Earlier, Commercante, the 5-2 second choice with John Velazquez aboard, captured the $750,000 E.P. Taylor Stakes 1 1/4-mile turf race. Commercante finished in a time of 2:04.02. --Workout watch: Roman Ruler, favored to bring the Breeders' Cup Juvenile trophy home to California, put in his final major workout Sunday, going 5 furlongs in 58 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the fastest workout of the day at that distance. Under exercise rider Dana Barnes, Roman Ruler worked out shortly before the afternoon's first race because trainer Bob Baffert preferred a more relaxed atmosphere than the 2-year-old colt would have encountered during the morning sessions. Roman Ruler started several lengths behind barnmate Pizza George but finished three lengths in front. The Norfolk Stakes winner will be ridden by Corey Nakatani in the $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Nakatani is scheduled to ride in all eight Breeders' Cup races at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. --She's in: Culture Clash, the only California-based horse relegated to the waiting lists for the Breeders' Cup races, has made it into the field of potential entrants for the Juvenile Fillies after the announcements that Sis City, Ready's Gal and Enduring Will won't run.
