HEIST LINKED TO OTHER ROBBERIES 'DO IT NOW BANDIT' SUSPECTED IN 15 HOLD-UPS.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987.  robbers in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and Ventura counties, the FBI said Friday.

The robber - whose notes demanding cash usually stress ``do it now'' - is suspected in 15 other hold-ups since Oct. 26, officials said.

They include heists at three banks in Burbank, two in Encino and Tarzana and one each in Canyon Country, Camarillo, Northridge, Sherman Oaks, Canoga Park, Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown. , Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  and Agoura Hills.

He also is wanted in connection with a March 27 robbery at the Edwards Federal Credit Union in Lancaster.

``He is considered armed and dangerous,'' FBI spokeswoman Cheryl Mimura said. ``He is one of the most prolific bank robbers (in this area), and we are determined to get any information that will lead to his arrest.''

Washington Mutual (or WaMu; NYSE: WM) is the United States' largest savings and loan association.
 Bank in Canyon Country. The robber walked into the branch at 16500 Soledad Canyon Road, handed the teller a note, then fled in a white Toyota Corolla with a Sav-On bag filled with cash.

He discarded the bag and most of the money when a red dye pack hidden in the cash exploded.

During the March 27 robbery in Lancaster, the suspect entered the credit union with a Jack-in-the-Box bag and handed a note to a teller stating, ``This is a robbery. Put all the money in the bag. This is not a joke. I have a gun, and I'll blow your head off,'' officials said.

Authorities also believe the suspect is responsible for a trio of heists in Burbank on March 22. A robber hit a Downey Savings branch at 11:03 a.m., a Fidelity Federal Bank at 11:20 a.m. and a First Coastal Bank at 11:36 a.m.

The suspect is described as white, 25 to 30, 6 feet and 180 pounds, with short brown hair.
