HEAVY DEMAND FOR INFO TECH EXECUTIVES EXPECTED IN '94; HEALTHIEST JOB MARKET SINCE MID-'80S

NEW YORK, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Demand for senior-level information technology executives, which has rebounded since mid-year, is expected to remain strong during the year ahead, according to New York search firm John J. Davis & Associates, Inc. "While the IT job market improved gradually during the first half of 1993, it has since taken off dramatically and now approximates the mid-80s peak," said firm President John Davis.
The current job market favors senior professionals including vice presidents, senior vice presidents, chief information officers and directors of information technology/services, said Davis, who commented on specific positions:
-- Chief information CIOs are expected to be full
officers participants in development of the
 business strategy.
-- senior information Robust demand for top
technology executives professionals who are leaders
 with broad technical know-how.
-- Technology architects Continued need for executives
 in data architecture and information
 engineering area.
-- Telecommunications Strong demand at VP/director director
 levels.
 -- Network managers Continued demand.
The job market rebound has not been matched by increased compensation, said Davis. "The heady days of the '80s have not returned so far as salary is concerned. Today companies are compensating people closer to the real market price, without either over or underpaying as in the past."
