HEAT WAVE TO LINGER FOR WEEK.

Desert temperatures continued to wilt Southland residents Sunday as Lancaster topped a 22-year heat record and weather forecasters spelled no relief through Wednesday.

Lancaster hit 109 degrees Sunday, breaking the 107-degree record set in 1980, the National Weather Service reported.
