Byline: - Compiled by Sandra Barrera

Petra Petra (pē`trə), ancient rock city, in present-day Jordan, known to the Arabs as Wadi Musa for the stream that flows through it. A narrow, winding pass between towering walls leads to the open plain upon which stood the ancient city. The plain is surrounded by hills in which tombs have been carved in the pink sandstone. Haden, daughter of the great jazz bassist Charlie Haden, re-creates the Who's 1967 concept album, ``The Who Sell Out,'' using only her voice.

The a cappella album Petra Haden Sings: The Who Sell Out doesn't skip a beat and even includes reworkings of the radio jingles and promos as heard on the original.

Available on the Bar/None label.

Here is just a sample of the new albums arriving in stores today:

Tori Amos: ``The Beekeeper'' (Epic) The singer-songwriter's first album of all-new material since ``Scarlet's Walk,'' which was released in 2002.

Chely Wright: ``The Metropolitan Hotel'' (Dualtone) Features the hit single ``Bumper of My S.U.V.,'' a brouhaha over a U.S. Marines sticker in which middle fingers fly.

Kings of Leon: ``A-Ha Shake Heartbreak'' (RCA) The follow-up to 2003's ``Youth & Young Manhood'' reunites the band of brothers and their cousin with producer Ethan Jones, who has also worked with Ryan Adams.
