HEALTH-PAK SIGNS CONTRACT WITH GNYHAS

 HEALTH-PAK SIGNS CONTRACT WITH GNYHAS
 UTICA, N.Y., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Health-Pak, Inc. (HPI) today

announced that effective Sept. 1, 1992, it has signed a contract with the Greater New York Hospital Services Association, Inc. (GNYHAS) to supply protective disposable apparel for its member hospitals and related health care facilities in the New York City area. GNYHAS is the official buying association for approximately 130 member hospital and health care facilities. The new contract is for a period of two years and subject to renewal thereafter.
The principal products HPI expects to supply under this contract include its recently introduced line of impervious protective apparel specifically designed to meet the newly enacted regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The new OSHA regulations require virtually all health care providers, among others, to provide to their employees specific protective apparel designed to reduce the risk of infection, particularly with respect to AIDS and hepatitis. Anthony Liberatore, president of HPI stated, "The new OSHA regulations caught the health care industry virtually by surprise even thought the regulations had been proposed for a number of years. We saw this change coming and were ready to meet the anticipated demand with a newly introduced line of protective apparel specifically designed to meet the new OSHA requirements. This new line has been well received by hospitals and alternate care facilities, as has our expanded line of Infectious Control Kits which were designed primarily for emergency situations."
Concerning the new contract, Liberatore stated, "After five months of negotiations, we are very excited about the new contract with GNYHAS. Although the contract has no guarantees as to volume, we anticipate that it will generate new revenues for HPI of approximately $1 million per year. Even more importantly however, is that this confirms that the product produced by HPI has been accepted as an alternate supply source to this market compared to Fortune 500 companies. In the opinion of management this acceptance is an affirmation that we have secured an important position in this marketplace starting with the next two years.
