HEALTH-CHEM ELECTS MARIANI SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

 NEW YORK, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Health-Chem Corporation (AMEX: HCH) announced today that Dr. Elio P. Mariani has been elected senior vice president of the company's Hercon Laboratories Corporation subsidiary (Hercon).
 Dr. Mariani joined Hercon as vice president/research and development in April 1992. He joined Hercon from Pharmaceutical Basics, Inc. having previously been with the Sterling Winthrop Research Institute and Bristol Laboratories. Dr. Mariani holds Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. degrees from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
 Health-Chem Corporation manufactures and distributes patented controlled release dispensers for the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries, along with industrial and health care synthetic fabrics.
