HEALING PROCESS CONTINUES FOR L.A. ODOM, TURIAF SPARK WIN OVER WARRIORS LAKERS 110, GOLDEN ST. 98.

Byline: ROSS SILER Staff Writer

OAKLAND - There are scars on the Lakers that don't belong to Kobe Bryant Kobe Bean Bryant (born July 23 1978(1978--)) is an American All-Star shooting guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.  or Phil Jackson

, no matter the headlines that their respective knee and hip have made in the past month.

The one in Lamar Odom's heart following the death of his infant son Jayden over the summer never will heal. The one running down the middle of Ronny Turiaf's chest is a reminder of all he has overcome.

Neither Bryant nor Jackson were in the building Wednesday night as the Lakers spoiled the return of Don Nelson and the Golden State Warriors The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team based in Oakland, California. Bryant stayed home and underwent treatment on his right knee, with his return yet to be determined. Jackson was not ready to travel four weeks after having his right hip replaced, although he plans to coach Sunday's game at Seattle.

The good feelings extended throughout the Lakers, who are now 2-0, but especially to Odom and Turiaf, whose stories are unique in the NBA NBA

Odom followed up his 34-point, 13-rebound performance in Tuesday night's opener with 22 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Turiaf stepped in for Andrew Bynum Andrew Bynum (born October 27 1987, in Plainsboro, New Jersey) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. Bynum is listed as 7'0" and 285 lbs and plays center.  at the start of the third quarter and finished with a career-high 23 points and nine rebounds.

They finished the game in fitting fashion, with Odom driving the lane and leaving the ball for Turiaf to dunk.

The Warriors trailed by double-figures most of the second half and were on the receiving end of boos whenever they missed free throws in the fourth quarter. The Warriors made just 3 of 19 3-pointers in the game and 27 of 42 foul shots.

The tragedy that Odom suffered at the end of June kept him away from basketball for weeks at a time. His game hasn't shown it, however, as he has filled the void left by Bryant these first two games.

Odom once again seemed to sense when his team needed him most. He pushed the Lakers in front 75-65 in the third quarter with two of the game's biggest baskets. It was the first double-digit lead by either team.

After Baron Davis Baron Walter Louis Davis (born April 13 1979, in Los Angeles, California) is an American professional basketball player currently starting at point guard for the NBA's Golden State Warriors. He began playing basketball at the age of five.  missed everything on a jumper for the Warriors, Odom buried a 3-pointer as Troy Murphy Troy Brandon Murphy (born May 2 1980, in Morristown, New Jersey) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing power forward for the NBA's Indiana Pacers. Murphy grew up in Sparta which is located in north west New Jersey.  gave him space to shoot. The next possession, Odom attacked from the block, fending off Murphy and Andris Biedrins and powering in a shot.

Assistant coach Kurt Rambis Darrell Kurt Rambis (born February 25, 1958 in Cupertino, California) is an American former professional basketball player and current assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. , filling in for Jackson, had to bring Odom back for the final three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost. It is the twenty-second episode of the second season. The episode was directed by Stephen Williams, and written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. It first aired on May 17, 2006 on ABC.  as the Warriors closed within nine points. On his first play, Odom drove for a layup to restore order.

At this time last year, Turiaf was in Spokane, Wash., recovering from open heart surgery. He was determined to make it back to the NBA in what was supposed to be his rookie season and returned for 23 games.

Turiaf's enthusiasm is such that he walked onto the floor Wednesday with the starting five and slapped hands with each one a different way. He returned to the bench but got his chance to play in the second half.

Bynum faced a challenge in playing the second of back-to-back games on a sprained right foot. Not even a minute into the second half, Bynum was on his way to the bench after being whistled for an offensive foul, his fourth personal in 11 minutes of action.

But Turiaf brought his trademark energy in replacing the 19-year-old center. He hustled his way to 14 points in the third quarter alone. When the Lakers blew a fastbreak, Turiaf was there to follow up Smush Smush was an American game show which aired on the USA Network in 2001.[1]

Smush was hosted by Ken Ober and co-hosted by Lisa Dergan[1]. The show, set in a basement party atmosphere, featured four contestants trying to "smush" the answers to clues

Turiaf stayed on the floor for the fourth quarter and got a dunk off a pick-and-roll play with Vladimir Radmanovic.

He was feeling so good, in fact, that he drilled a 22-footer from the top of the floor with five minutes left.

The Warriors welcomed back Nelson as coach 12 seasons after he left. That Golden State has not made the playoffs in that time was reinforced when Baron Davis took the microphone and declared to the crowd, 1/2We want to make up for last year.

as coach, the Warriors finished 34-48 for the second consecutive season. Montgomery was ousted in the summer and several preseason predictions had Golden State making the playoffs and not the Lakers.

Davis lobbed a pass from near midcourt that Mickael Pietrus soared to catch as part of a spectacular alley-oop dunk. But the rest of the first quarter was filled with missed free throws, bricked 3-pointers and personal fouls.
