HEADS UP! GOLF BALLS TO FALL TO RAISE FUNDS.

NEWHALL - On Sept. 20, when someone yells ``fore'' on the 10th fairway of the Valencia Country Club, it's best to switch your golf cap for a hard hat.

That's when more than 4,000 golf balls will drop from a helicopter hovering hov·er

 300 feet overhead, all in the name of raising money for the Special Olympics Special Olympics

International sports program for people with intellectual disability. It provides year-round training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type summer and winter sports for participants.
. If one of the specially numbered balls makes it into a hole, someone could win $10,000 cash.

Fifty numbers will be drawn immediately before the drop and if one of those 50 goes into the hole first, $10,000 will be awarded to the person sponsoring the ball. Organizers will give away at least $4,500, including a prize of $2,500 for closest to the hole, $1,000 for second closest to the hole, $500 for third closest and $500 for furthest from the hole.

The fund-raiser, a new feature of the Special Olympics' second annual golf tourney tourney: see tournament. , offers people a chance to sponsor one or more of the balls by making donations between now and the tournament. Numbered tickets corresponding to numbered golf balls are now available for purchase. Tickets can be ordered through the mail or can be purchased at the Special Olympic Spirit The Mission: "To build a peaceful and better world in the Olympic Spirit which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play - Olympic Spirit  Games scheduled Saturday at Newhall Park. The winner does not need to be present to win and there are plans to broadcast the event on local radio.

Tickets can be purchased for a suggested donation of $10 each, six tickets for $50 or 13 tickets for $100. All donations are tax-deductible Tax-deductible
