"I Know Who Killed Me" achieves what "Georgia Rule," "Just My Luck" and "Herbie Fully Loaded" tried so strenuously to do but failed at: It makes Lohan look bad. And spectacularly so. After all, this is a pole dancer/torture porn/mistaken identity/amputee sex grand slam of bad taste; all the stuff that should be right up LiLo's alley. But relentlessly craptastic writing, staging, pacing and editing conspire con·spire v. con·spired, con·spir·ing, con·spires v.intr. 1. To plan together secretly to commit an illegal or wrongful act or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action. 2. to create a seemingly impossible effect. Lindsay doesn't come off natural doing any of this. It's no help that, initially, she's set up as a well-behaved suburban girl who "just barely got accepted for the winter session at Yale." Anyway, the admirable Audrey Fleming gets snatched by a psycho who likes to gradually amputate am·pu·tate v. To cut off a part of the body, especially by surgery. his captives' fingers, then limbs, and torment them further with some of the worst-looking gore effects seen in movies since the 1960s. The semi-good news is that Aubrey's found alive, if minus a few parts, by the side of a road. When she wakes up in the hospital, though, Aubrey insists that she's really Dakota Moss, foulmouthed foulmouthed adj. Lohan's not a very effective screaming victim, for one thing. The scene in which Dakota passes out, shockingly, doesn't persuade. And while her slo-mo strip club gyrations certainly showcase a spectacular woman's body, something is so off about them that she looks for all the world like a little girl trying too hard to convince us that she can be bad. And as we all know, if there's one thing LiLo doesn't need to fake, it's that. Man, how disappointing can a movie be?
