They are responsible for the efficient performance of the computer systems. for a company that closed and I was laid off. The job market was very slow in my field and I wasn't able to find a job. But I love animals and realized there was a need for this type of business, so I decided to give it a try. WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA? I had friends in my neighborhood who were having their pet food delivered and loved the service. HOW LONG WAS IT FROM CONCEPT TO OPENING? Six months WHAT DID YOU DO DURING THAT TIME? I attended small-business seminars and talked to friends. WHAT WERE YOUR STARTUP COSTS AND HOW DID YOU FINANCE THE BUSINESS? I incurred an initial expense of roughly $1,500 for food, seminars and license. I used funds from our savings. WHO DID YOU RELY ON FOR ADVICE? Friends in my neighborhood and church, two wonderful women who previously owned this type of business, and my father-in-law. WHAT HADN'T YOU CONSIDERED BEFORE OPENING? The difficulty in marketing and advertising. WHAT IS YOUR EXPECTED REVENUE THIS YEAR? $50,000 WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE FOR THE COMPANY? I would hope to increase my client base by 200 and establish a full-service Web site.
