William Akiyama, who recently returned to the company, has been named a principal in the Civic Program for the Western Region. He will be working from the Sacramento, Calif., office and will also serve as associate managing principal there. Gus Ardura, Alexandria, Va., was promoted to senior vice president. He is also director of federal programs for HDR Architecture. Steve Riojas, San Francisco, was also promoted to senior vice president. He serves simultaneously as the Western Region director of civic marketing. Curt Parde, Dallas, was promoted to vice president. As a LEED accredited professional, Parde also serves as team leader for the Civic Program in the Dallas office. Don Drakulich, Tucson, Ariz., was promoted to vice president. He is also the managing principal in the Tuscon HDR office and served as project manger for the recently completed Department of Homeland Security Tucson and the Yuma Border Patrol Stations in Arizona. Elaine Solomon, Phoenix, was promoted to vice president. She is also the Civic Program marketing principal in the Southwest Region. Larry Hartman, Chicago, was also promoted to vice president. He has successfully programmed and designed projects such as juvenile detention centers, law enforcement centers, substance abuse treatment centers, higher education facilities, materials laboratories and courts.
