HDD Operator Training, Certification School To Be Held.

In conjunction with the UCT Seminar Series, Missouri Western State College's Engineering Technology Department is holding a UCT 2000 Pre-Conference Horizontal Directional Drilling Operator Training & Certification School. The course is also being sponsored by Underground Construction magazine. The course will be held at the Baroid training facilities in Houston.

This 80-hour course includes comprehensive training on virtually all aspects of HDD, including field work. For those interesting in becoming a skilled HDD operator, or for contractors needing to train HDD personnel, this course will provide the essential training to become a quality operator.

The course will be held Jan. 12 - 22, just prior to the Underground Construction Technology Conference. All attendees to the training school will receive a complimentary full conference pass to UCT.

The course includes the following topics: Introduction to the Industry; Basic Math and Calculations; Surveying; Fluids and Hydraulics; Job Safety; Soil Mechanics; Pumps and Motors; Job Drawings and Specifications; Strikes; Job Management; Planning and Scheduling; Job Supervision, Cost and Control; Pipe Locating; Bore Planning; Pipe Navigation; Tool Selection; Mud Mixing; Site Selection and Rig Setup; Job operations; Rig Maintenance; Case Studies; and How to Avoid Crises.
