HCPro extends healthcare reach with acquisition of Business Word's four flagship newsletters.

This month HCPro Inc. made its fifth acquisition in 2005 with the purchase of four healthcare newsletters from The Business World Inc., a Centennial, Colorado

publisher and publication services company. The acquisition broadens HCPro's reach to healthcare marekting professionals and the healthcare executive-level suite, also known as the C-Suite. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The purchase follows HCPro's acquisition in May of five monthly newsletters and four companion email newsletters targeting the Healthcare C-Suite from COR Health of Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850. , Calif.--which in turn followed HCPro's securing a $27 million credit facility from GE Commercial Finance (NL/ NL 5/9/05). That financing was targeted to refinance Refinance

"The Business Word acquisition expands on the platform created by the COR Health deal," said HCPro president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Bruce Guzowski. "We are committed to the healthcare C-Suite and we will continue to look for other acquisition and partnering opportunities in this area."

The subscription newsletters are: Healthcare Advertising Review, Health Care Strategic Management, Profiles in Healthcare Marketing, and Hospital Materials Management Materials management is the branch of logistics that deals with the tangible components of a supply chain. Three of the four newsletters are read by marketing and public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. The new face of Business Word

Only last fall Business Word chairman Donald E.L. Johnson told NL/ NL that it was cutting back on its operations for other publishers, which include marketing consultation, print shop services, circulation fulfillment ful·fill also ful·fil

But HCPro's offer was too attractive to walk away from. "When the offer came in, we knew that there are not that many potential buyers out there, and we decided that this is a good time to cut back our publishing activities," Johnson told us.

"We will continue to publish Financial Advertising Review, a monthly produced for banks and credit unions, and Twins Magazine, the bimonthly bi·month·ly

"I also will continue to blog on healthcare politics and economics as well as other political and economic topics at www.businessword.com. This will allow me to continue my 29 years of writing about the healthcare markets and my 41-year career in business and financial journalism publishing.

Johnson continued, "We've also shut down our print shop but will continue to service our newsletter and magazine fulfillment clients"--one of whom is The Newsletter on Newsletters.

"Basically," Johnson concluded, "we've trimmed our operations down to where my partner and wife, Susan Alt, and I will have good part-time jobs as long as we want them without worrying about discrimination against seniors, which we soon will be."
