HCPRO, INC. acquires national health information; relaunches magazine.


HCPro, Inc. (Marblehead, MA), a provider of information, education, training and consulting products and services in the healthcare regulation and compliance fields, has entered the managed care publishing business by acquiring National Health Information (NHI NHI

; Atlanta, GA), a business-to-business healthcare information publisher. No terms of the deal were given.

NHI produces subscription newsletters and books in managed care, as well as in several of HCPro's current markets, including health information management and long-term care long-term care (LTC),
n the provision of medical, social, and personal care services on a recurring or continuing basis to persons with chronic physical or mental disorders.
. HCPoo is purchasing all the assets of NHI, including 13 newsletters and ancillary products, several manuals and one directory. HCPro said it will create a new managed care unit, including NHI's newsletters, that will focus on payors and vendors affiliated with payors, such as disease management, capitation and consumer-driven healthcare. The company also said it will launch several additional products in the next 12 months to complement the acquired publications.

Also, HCPro will re-launch "Contemporary Long-Term Care," a magazine it acquired from HealthNet Information Services See Information Systems.  (Parsippany, NJ) in February of this year, with an issue in October. Launched in 1978, it was published monthly for a controlled circulation of 35,000. The re-launched magazine will be published nine times a year for a controlled circulation of 22,000 professionals responsible for management and patient care at nursing facilities, residential care centers, and hospitals with long-term care operations.

HCPro produces a range of information products for the healthcare industry in a variety of formats, including "HealthLeaders Magazine," 66 newsletters, 322 books, 63 videos, 200 annual broadcast events, over 100 online courses and over 200 live events.
