HBA to honor Leyden with Lifetime Achievement award: the U Penn professor contributed to advances in acne.

Leyden will receive its Lifetime Achievement award for the advancement of beauty through science. The award will be presented at the third annual industry awards dinner on Sept. 28 in New York New York, state, United States

 Princeton said the award recognizes the role of cosmetic science in new product development. Dr. Leyden, professor of dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine The University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine, presently located in the University City section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the United States's first school of medicine, founded at the College of Philadelphia, as the University was then called. , is being recognized for his work on inflammation mechanisms of acne and bacterial taxonomy, and bacterial production of body odors. Dr. Leyden currently serves on the executive board of the Dermatology Foundation. He has been a director of the American Academy of Dermatology The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) is the largest organization of dermatologists in the world.

The Academy grants Fellowships and Associate Memberships, as well as Fellowships for Nonresidents (of the United States of America or Canada).

U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission. Albert M. Kligman, MD, Ph.D, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine emeritus dermatology professor and first recipient of this award, will present the award to Dr. Leyden.

The industry awards dinner, set for Tuesday, Sept. 28 at the New York Hilton, will present various awards to executives such as the fifth annual Package Design award. The following executives will also be honored: Avon executives for the Anew Clinical Line & Wrinkles Corrector for the New Product R&D Technical award; Avon's Janice Teal for the Lifetime Achievement in Product Development award and Procter & Gamble's Paul Sheppard for the Packaging Executive of the Year award.
