HAYES WHEELS INTERNATIONAL ELECTS RODEWIG AND WAY TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 ROMULUS, Mich., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Hayes Wheels International, Inc., has elected John S. Rodewig and Kenneth L. Way to its board of directors, according to John E. Utley, chairman.
 Hayes Wheels International (NYSE: HAY) is the world's leader in the manufacture, design and supply of aluminum and steel wheels to original equipment manufacturers of passenger cars and light trucks. Hayes was formed in December by the public common stock offering of Varity Corporation's Kelsey-Hayes Wheels business. Varity (NYSE: VAT) indirectly owns 49.8 percent of the outstanding shares of Hayes Wheels.
 ABOUT JOHN S. RODEWIG
 Rodewig is president and chief operating officer and a member of the board of Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN). Rodewig is also chairman of the board of Eaton Limited in the United Kingdom, and a member of Eaton boards in France, Spain, Mexico, Australia and Argentina.
 Rodewig joined Eaton Corporation in 1956 as a management trainee. Since then he has served in a wide range of increasingly responsible positions including general manager of Corporate Research & Development for the Brake and Axle Divisions, operations vice president for Truck Components Europe and vice president, Truck Components Operations - Worldwide.
 Rodewig received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University. He is a member of the American Trucking Association, the Western Highway Institute and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
 ABOUT KENNETH L. WAY
 Way is chairman and chief executive officer of Lear Seating Corporation,
the world's largest independent manufacturer of automotive seating. Way has been affiliated with Lear Seating for 26 years. He joined American Metal Products, a predecessor to Lear Siegler, Inc., in 1966. Since then he has served in a variety of engineering, manufacturing and management positions, including corporate vice president of Lear's Automotive Group. Prior to joining Lear, Way served the Boeing Company in Seattle, and spent four years as an officer of the United States Air Force.
 Way is a director of the Automotive Hall of Fame, vice president of the Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers, Inc., and a member of the board of directors for the Michigan State University Eli Broad School of Business. He also serves on the board of directors of the Detroit Economic Club. He is a member of the Engineering Society of Detroit, the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Leadership Council for the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS). Way received a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in packaging engineering from Michigan State University.
