 blaring, a stream of revelers marched Wednesday along Sherman Way to celebrate St. Patrick's St. Patrick's or Saint Patrick's may refer to:

Participants at the Canoga Park event - including a mariachi band sporting large shamrocks - marched from the Madrid Theatre to the Follow Your Heart restaurant, where traditional and vegetarian Irish fare and live music awaited.

Along the way, harp music wafted about, and marchers were regaled by authentically attired True Thomas (Robert Seutter) of North Hollywood, who spun traditional Celtic tales.

The Canoga Park event was one of several St. Patrick's Day events, including a parade and concert in downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. The sprawling, multi-centered megacity is such that its downtown core is often considered just another district like Hollywood or , where Screen Actors Guild President Melissa Gilbert and her husband, actor Bruce Boxleitner, were grand marshals.

Sponsored by the Canoga Park Improvement Association, the local event was designed to draw attention to some of the improvements that have occurred along the stretch of Sherman Way.

Echoing the legend of St. Patrick's driving the snakes from Ireland, ``We've sort of made a theme of our getting rid of graffiti, getting rid of litter, in the area,'' said Mary Paterson, executive director of the Canoga Park Improvement Association.

``This has become a better place to live, shop and play,'' said Don Sanelli, vice-president of the association, who was dressed as St. Patrick.

While positive publicity was a plus, for most, the saint was the reason for the day's events.

``I do Scottish folk dance, and anything to do with music, I come out for,'' said Leah Moses of Canoga Park.

``Besides, I love St. Patrick's Day.''
