HARVESTING FUN VALYERMO, ROSAMOND, LANCASTER GET READY FOR ANNUAL FALL FESTIVALS.

VALYERMO - Benedictine monks will host thousands of visitors at their Valyermo abbey for a weekend of music, art and food.

The 48th annual Valyermo Fall Festival will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew's Abbey St. Andrew's Abbey is a Benedictine monastery of men located in Valyermo, California. In 1929, St. Andrew's Abbey in Bruges, Belgium founded St. Andrew's Priory in China.  Children's Choir from 3:50 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Christian singer Tatianna will perform at 10 a.m. Sunday.

 will perform throughout the day on the Pasture Stage while guitarists, keyboard artists and vocalists entertain diners in Cafe Vincent.

The Palmdale-based Nuns for Fun will sing at 12:20 and 5 p.m. both days.

Masses will be said both days.

Ceramic plaques of religious designs produced at the monastery will be prominently displayed, and their designer, the Rev. Maur van Doorslaer, will be available to autograph his work. Metal and wood crafts also will be displayed for sale.

Cafeterias, restaurants and booths will provide food ranging from Mexican and Chinese cuisine to hamburgers, chicken and ribs.

Shoppers will also find used books, DVDs, videocassettes, tapes and long-playing phonograph records for sale.

Other events are also planned this weekend:

--ROSAMOND - The 29th annual William Ketchum Memorial Armed Forces Appreciation Parade will feature more than 50 marching bands, floats, military vehicles and youth groups. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and travel down Diamond Street to Glendower Park, where thee will be a Septemberfest.

Visitors should plan to arrive early as Rosamond Boulevard, from the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  to Sierra Highway, will be closed at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be more than 50 vendors of arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts. , as well as food vendors, games for kids, a dunking booth and Indian art displays.

--LANCASTER - The annual Greek Food Festival will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Lilac Pavilion at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground. , 2551 W. Ave. H.
