It might seem strange that a PONY organization would help a Little League, since their national headquarters often are at war. But Joe Aloisi, Hart PONY vice president of administration, said this was a case of helping youths. "It doesn't matter. We're talking about youth baseball, and that was our key interest," Aloisi said. "A community has to have a place for their kids to play baseball, or they're gonna gon·na Informal Contraction of going to: We're gonna win today. end up like the guys who broke into the place." Aloisi said Hart's financial surplus allowed it to make a donation. After hearing about West Valley's plight, he asked treasurer Phil Annett how much Hart could donate and was told $1,500. Aloisi then suggested it to the 10-member executive board and got the approval. West Valley President Brian Anson said his organization already had received more than enough to fix the damage but would gladly accept any donation. So on Saturday, Hart President Dan Schlender handed Anson the check. "Our goal is, from one baseball league to another, to pass on some of our good fortune," Aloisi said. Anson said the Encino Little League donated about $500 in soda cases and syrup syrup /syr·up/ (sir´up) a concentrated solution of a sugar, such as sucrose, in water or other aqueous liquid, sometimes with a medicinal agent added; usually used as a flavored vehicle for drugs. , but Hart PONY was the only baseball organization making a cash donation. The actual donation might have been done on the side, amid the opening ceremonies, but it wasn't done anonymously. Todd Donoho Todd Donoho is an American radio and television journalist.
