Jerry Owens Jerry Lee Owens (born on February 16, 1981 in Hollywood, California) is a Major League Baseball outfielder currently with the Chicago White Sox. He played most of the 2006 season with the AAA Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox affiliation) of the International League, but was  had to wait nearly two weeks into his stint with the Chicago White Sox The Chicago White Sox are a professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. The White Sox are a member of the Central Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the White Sox have played in U.S.  before he got his first at-bat Thursday, but the Hart High product wasn't about to complain.

Rather, he is thrilled to be in the big leagues and gaining experience for the future.

``It's an honor to come up here and be a part of the defending World Series champion White Sox and just be a part of the team,'' Owens said. ``It's just cool to look around and see these guys are my teammates now.''

The speedy outfielder is being used primarily as a pinch-runner during his first promotion to the big leagues, but White Sox management say he is a candidate for a regular job in the outfield next season.

``My first two full seasons I had a lot of success and I'm grateful for that,'' Owens said. you've struggled.' And that's one thing I took to heart ... ``I think the struggles really built my character up. I've learned how to battle through. At times it was like `How am I ever going to get out of this?' and I've been able to make it out.

``And now I'm getting a chance to play in the major leagues, so it couldn't have been that bad of a season.''
