HART HIGH BAND PUTTING ON SHOW TO PAY ITS WAY TO CHAMPIONSHIPS.

NEWHALL -- The Hart High School Hart High School may refer to:
  • Hart High School — Newhall, California
  • Hart High School — Hart, Michigan
  • Hart County High School — Munfordville, Kentucky
  • Hart County High School — Hartwell, Georgia
 band is planning a trip to Indianapolis and wants to leave no one behind -- not an easy feat for the award-winning regiment that next year will be 120 students strong.

So the band is planning a show, and everyone's invited.

The band wants to compete in the Bands of America Bands of America (BOA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes high school music education in the United States. Specifically, BOA organizes many marching band competitions for high school students, including regional and national events.  Grand Nationals Marching Band Noun 1. marching band - a band that marches (as in a parade) and plays music at the same time
band - instrumentalists not including string players
 Championships in the fall -- a first for a Santa Clarita high school band.

But housing more than 100 sets of instruments and costumes costs about $10,000. Students in the band have already agreed to pay about $1,100 for airfare, meals and ticket expenses.

"The goal is to get the $10,000 taken care of and also to supplement student costs," Hart Regiment Alumni Association member Shirley Pundt said. "We don't want to take a trip like this and not have everyone go."

The fundraising concert will be headlined by Chuck Negron of the 1970s band Three Dog Night, and it also will feature the Hart show choir and jazz band at the College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. . As Pundt puts it, the concert should be great fun, for a great cause.

"This is a wonderful way for the community to have a nice, fun evening out and support music education in our community."
