HART GIRLS' SOCCER DOMINATES WEST RANCH 4-0 VICTORY EXTENDS WIN STREAK.

Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News

Hart's biggest obstacle en route to repeating as the Foothill League girls' soccer champion might be itself.

The Indians' most serious challenge will likely come Tuesday against rival Canyon.

But on Saturday at West Ranch, Hart treated its showdown with the Wildcats like it was the most important game on the schedule, winning 4-0.

After opening the season undefeated in its first 17 games, West Ranch suffered its second setback in a five-day stretch, as the Indians extended their winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

The win set up an eagerly awaited rematch REMATCH Cardiology Clinical trials–Randomized Evaluation of Mechanical Assistance Therapy as an alternative in Congestive Heart failure–related to use of a portable, electric left ventricular-assist system–LVAS–eg, HeartMate®  between the Indians (17-2-1, 4-0) and Canyon (13-1-3, 3-0-1) at 3:15p.m. Tuesday at Hart.

The Indians, the top-ranked team in Southern Section Div.II, handed the Cowboys cowboys, in American history.

The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF). , it was kind of scary because it's hard to be in that position,'' said senior sweeper Michelle Mason, who helped the Indians post their 14th shutout, one shy of the program record.

``I like being the underdog, but now everybody knows us and everyone wants to beat us.''

Although West Ranch was ranked No.6 in Div.II, the seniorless Wildcats (16-2-1, 2-2) appeared to have the biggest target on their back entering league play after winning the Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  and Lancaster tournaments.

That provided plenty of motivation for Hart, which followed Canyon's 3-0 victory Tuesday over the Wildcats with an equally convincing effort.

``We tried to do our own thing, but we have too many injuries, and we don't have enough depth on our bench,'' said West Ranch coach Tania

``We're a young team and they're fighting hard, and they're not giving up.''

West Ranch tried to match Hart's physical play, but the Indians' technical skill proved superior, resulting in four players scoring goals.

Sarina Coutin increased her program record to 76 career goals with her team-leading 18th score off an assist from Courtney Cox, giving Hart a 3-0 lead. Coutin set up Hart's first goal in the 31st minute, crossing a pass to Allison Carivau, who tapped a shot inside the left post.

``Sari's always the one to get hurt because everyone knows she's our leading scorer and they want to take her out,'' said Mason, who gave Hart a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute, converting a rebound when Lindsay Mills' shot hit the crossbar.

Hart coach Louis Romero said: ``I have confidence in her that she'll be out there Tuesday, even if she's not 100percent healthy. Seventy-five percent of Sari is still better than (most players) on any other team.''

Mills assisted on Aubrie Smith's 17th goal, her fifth in league, with a well-placed cross in the 70th minute.

``I keep trying new players in new positions because it helps me find new plays and combinations we can use,'' Romero said. ``This team has a lot of versatility.''
