HART BOYS' BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: HART'S TITLE FIRST IN 8 YEARS.

Byline: Daily News

For the Hart High of Newhall boys' basketball team, Saturday's victory was worth the wait.

The 58-50 win over West Bakersfield earned the host Indians their first Hart Holiday Classic tournament championship in eight years.

Mike Gentry (14 points and five assists), Andrew Morris (13 points) and Adam Rich (11 points) contributed for Hart (12-3).

--Camarillo 59, Cleveland 53: The Scorpions opened the game with a 12-4 run and never trailed the Cavaliers of Reseda in the third-place game.

Brad Boyer led the Scorpions (11-4) with 14 points and Brett Scyphers chipped in 11.

Nicolas Young scored a game-high 18 points for Cleveland (7-7) and teammate Gabriel Bernard, an all-tournament selection, added 14 points.

--Glendale 69, Royal 66: Hermie Nicolas' two free throws with 4.7 seconds left helped seal the win for the Dynamiters against the Highlanders of Simi Valley (6-7) in the consolation championship.

The win offset a strong performance by Royal's Kyle Vondrak, who had 26 points and 11 rebounds. Isa Hall had 15 points and Hugo Guerrero added 12 points for Glendale.

Hall and Royal's Joel Hendershot were named to the all-tournament team.

--Palmdale 62, Littlerock 60: This time it was the Falcons who prevailed in the second meeting this season between the two Golden League teams.

Earlier this month, Littlerock defeated Palmdale at the San Bernardino tournament for third place.

The Lobos stayed in the game the whole way, getting outscored in only one quarter (20-18 in the second).

--Morningside 74, Burroughs 60: Peter St. Hubert score 15 points for the Indians of Burbank, but the team couldn't hold on to a nine-point first- quarter lead in the loss.

Burroughs, which had three players score in double figures, jumped out to a 23-14 lead after one quarter. But the team's play stalled from there. The Indians scored just seven points in the second quarter to trail 31-30 at the half, and they were outscored 21-12 in the fourth quarter.

--Highland 49, North Hollywood 46: Despite scoring just four points in the third quarter, the Bulldogs of Palmdale rallied at the finish to earn the victory over the Huskies.

With the game tied 22-22 at halftime, Highland couldn't get its offense going at the start of the second half, falling behind 32-26 after three quarters.
