HART AMONG 5 LOCAL TEAMS IN DIV. IA.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

Like most high school boys' basketball coaches, Hart of Newhall's Tom Kelly People named Tom Kelly include:
  • Tom Kelly (baseball) (born 1950), former manager of the American baseball team the Minnesota Twins.
  • Tom Kelly (basketball) (born 1924), played in 27 games for the Boston Celtics in the 1948-49 NBA season.
wasn't satisfied when the Southern Section playoffs pairings were announced Sunday.

This is the time of year when everybody has some sort of complaint, it seems. From how high their team was seeded to who else is in their bracket - there is always something to gripe gripe

 about.

And Kelly is no different.

``Heck no, I'm not happy,'' Kelly said. ``I wanted four byes.''

Kelly was being facetious, of course. He knows that the playoffs are about playing quality teams every time you step on the court, so there is no sense in getting mad who your opponent is or the site of the game.

The key is to win. Everything else is just talk.

For the record, Hart (23-3) hosts Righetti of Santa Maria Santa Maria, city, Brazil
Santa Maria (sän`tə mərē`ə), city (1991 pop. 217,592), Rio Grande do Sul state, S Brazil. It is a major railroad terminus and the site of an important military base.
 on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a Div A DIV Associate of Divinity . I-A first-round game.

``No matter who you play, it's going to be a good team,'' Kelly said. ``For us, all we want to focus on is doing what we do best, and because the level of competition is going to be good, there is an extra focus on doing all the little things. Because that can be the difference.''

Hart, which beat Valencia Thursday to wrap up the Foothill League championship, is one of five teams from the region competing in Div. I-A. In other games with local teams, Saugus (19-7) is home against Ventura, Canyon (16-10) is at El Toro El To·ro

and Thousand Oaks, which beat Calabasas on Thursday to win the Marmonte League championship, hosts Pacifica of Oxnard. In addition, Pacific League champion Crescenta Valley is home against Simi Valley.
