 HARSCO CORPORATION AWARDED NEW INTERNATIONAL ORDER FOR HOWITZERS
 HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Harsco Corporation (NYSE: HSC) today announced receipt of a new U.S. Army order for M109A5 Self-Propelled Howitzers (SPH) by its BMY-Combat Systems Division (BMY-CSD), a member of the company's Defense Group.
 Valued at approximately $16 million, the order is to support Foreign Military Sales requirements of the U.S. Government. Deliveries are scheduled for mid-1994.
 The M109 SPH is the main artillery system of the U.S. Army and has been widely adopted overseas. Since it was first introduced in the early 1960s, the howitzer has undergone several upgrades to improve its firepower and overall performance. The A5 version specified in the Division's newest order incorporates a more sophisticated gun and gun mount to achieve greater range. BMY-CSD is also the principal developer and current producer of the M109A6 Paladin for the U.S. Army. Paladin features the A5's gun and gun mount as well as advances in target acquisition, navigation and survivability.
