HARSCO CORPORATION ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AT ITS PLANT CITY STEEL DIVISION

 HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Malcolm W. Gambill, chairman and chief executive officer of Harsco Corporation (NYSE: HSC) today announced the appointment and promotion of Ronald W. Kaplan to the position of executive vice president of the company's Plant City Steel Division, effective Oct. 1, 1993, and president of the division, effective Feb. 1, 1994, upon the retirement of the current president, Moore Tappan Jr.
 Kaplan, 42, has held progressively more responsible positions in both corporate finance and operations management during his 14-year career with Harsco. He has served as vice president and treasurer of the company since January 1992 and previously was vice president and general manager of Plant City Steel's Harrisburg, Pa.-based Taylor- Wharton operation. Kaplan also held various Treasury Department positions prior to his appointment as vice president and controller of Taylor-Wharton in 1985.
 Kaplan obtained a B.A. in economics from Alfred University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
 Harsco's Plant City Steel Division, which has annual revenues of approximately $200 million, is a major international producer of a wide array of gas containment products, including propane tanks, composite products, high-pressure and NGV cylinders, as well as a full line of cryogenic equipment, such as bulk storage tanks, RDF and liquid cylinders. The division has manufacturing and distribution facilities spread across four continents.
