HARRY POTTER HOOPLA.

Byline: Eric Florip The Register-Guard

SPRINGFIELD - Only the most dedicated movie fans are willing to don a wizard's wardrobe and wait hours for a midnight premiere. But the hundreds who lined up in the Gateway Mall Gateway Mall may refer to:

Eager fans arrived as early as 9 a.m. to see one of five midnight showings of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth installment to the popular series based on the J.K. Rowling books. For most in line, the hype building up to the show is as much a part of the experience as the movie itself.

"It's just watching people do hilarious things," said Nic Morris, who was first in line for one show with fellow University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The opening also brought welcome traffic to the rest of the mall, and most likely boosted business at several nearby stores and restaurants, Fergason said. The mall plans to provide similar activities for the upcoming release of the seventh book in the series, "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Editing of this page by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled due to vandalism. ," due out July 21.

Nearly everyone in line admitted to being book fans first and movie fans second.

"I think they're good, just on a different level," said 18-year-old Kaitlin Martin, who joined a group of six other girls also from Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. Fergason said she wasn't at all surprised with the early turnout for the movie - something typical of more anticipated openings.

And the lines for the rest of the series aren't likely to get any shorter, as most fans are more than willing to show their devotion.

"You get crazy looks from people, but it's a way to stay young," Cannon said.
