HARRINGTON, COLORADO CLOSER THAN EVER TO DEAL.

Former Palmdale High pitcher Matt Harrington Matt Harrington (born February 1, 1982) is a baseball player who holds the record for the most times being chosen in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. Between 2000 and 2004, Harrington, a top prospect coming out of high school, was chosen in all five drafts, but never signed  has given up on his demand for a nearly $5 million contract and has agreed to accept the Colorado Rockies' previous offer of $4 million.

     and have told Harrington there isn't enough money to meet his demands. But the Rockies have dropped their demand that Harrington forfeit his arbitration rights.

    ``We acknowledged what Mr. (Rockies president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Jerry) McMorris has said and put together a counter offer that stayed within the $4 million parameter,'' said Tommy Tanzer, Harrington's agent.

    Under Harrington's offer, the pitcher would receive $600,000 in signing bonuses each of the four years, a salary of $200,000 in 2001 and 2002, and $600,000 in 2003 and 2004.

    The Rockies drafted Harrington in the first round with the seventh overall pick.
