The final cut: Three walk-ons will bolster the skeletal UCLA roster. They are: Matt Harbour, a 6-foot-1 freshman guard from Camarillo and Tucson (Ariz.) Sabino High whose brother, David, played for Stanford; David Parker, a 6-foot-8 freshman water polo player from Miramonte High in Orinda; and Vince McGautha, a 5-foot-11 junior from Washington High in Fremont.

``I wanted a decent backup point guard, and Vince has that ability,'' Harrick said. ``Harbor has the experience, and Parker has the size.''

Harold Sylvester will practice with the team but is academically ineligible to compete or travel.

UCLA has nine eligible scholarship players, including Sean Farnham, a recruited walk-on from Concord DeLaSalle.

Kevin Daley, a transfer from Nevada, can't play until next season.

Still swollen: Kris Johnson's sprained right ankle is worse than initially believed, and the junior forward may not begin practicing until next week.
