HARRAH'S SUMBITS BID FOR A CASINO ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX IN WINDSOR, ONTARIO, CANADA

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Harrah's, the casino entertainment division of The Promus Companies Incorporated (NYSE: PRI), today announced that it has submitted a proposal for the Windsor Casino Complex in response to the Province of Ontario's Request for Proposal.
If the Harrah's proposal is selected by the Province, Harrah's Windsor Casino will construct the entertainment complex on 13 acres in Windsor's central business district, directly across the Detroit River from Detroit. The casino entertainment complex is located within an hour's drive of approximately five million people, and could draw visitors from Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Columbus.
"We are pleased to have an opportunity to submit a proposal which we believe achieves the objectives of both the Province of Ontario and the City of Windsor," said Walter J. Haybert, vice president of gaming development for Harrah's.
At the request of the Province of Ontario to all applicants, specific design and cost details and time lines of Harrah's proposal are not being disclosed at this time.
Harrah's is the only casino entertainment company operating in all five established U.S. gaming markets: Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Laughlin, and Reno, Nevada.
Harrah's opened its first riverboat casino in Joliet, Illinois, on May 4th. Other riverboat casinos scheduled to open this year include a second boat in Joliet and projects in Vicksburg and Tunica, Mississippi. Scheduled to open in 1994 are projects for North Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri, and Shreveport, Louisiana.
Harrah's parent company, The Promus Companies Incorporated, also owns and operates three leading hotel brands: Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites.
