HARRAH'S DECIDES AGAINST BILOXI CASINO

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 18/ PRNewswire/ -- Harrah's, the gaming subsidiary of The Promus Companies Incorporated (NYSE: PRI), announced today that given the potential casino overbuilding in Biloxi, Miss., and the proliferation of casino developments along the Gulf Coast, including casinos in New Orleans and the potential for projects in Alabama, the company has decided not to proceed with a project previously considered in D'Iberville, Miss., on Biloxi's Back Bay.
Harrah's is the only casino entertainment company operating in all five established U.S. gaming markets: Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Laughlin, and Reno, Nevada.
Harrah's opened its first riverboat casino in Joliet, Ill., on May 4th. Other riverboat casinos scheduled to open this year include a second boat in Joliet and projects in Vicksburg and Tunica, Miss. Scheduled to open in 1994 are projects for North Kansas City, Mo., and Shreveport, La. The company earlier today announced a riverboat casino project for the St. Louis suburb of Maryland Heights.
Harrah's parent company, The Promus Companies Incorporated, also owns and operates three leading hotel brands: Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites.
