What started as a search for two men with a Harley-Davidson stolen from a Sun Valley restaurant early Saturday morning led officers to one of the biggest Harley chop shops in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Shortly after midnight Friday, Charles Latham Sir Charles Latham (26 January 1882 – 26 August 1968) was an Australian politician born in Hythe, Kent in England.[1] Early life

It was this year's Father's Day gift. He and his wife saved up about $30,000 or so for it. His previous one was stolen last winter.

A man seated by the window kept fidgeting, enough to obscure Latham's view.

Next thing Latham knew a security guard ran into the restaurant yelling, ``They're stealing your bike!''

``I swallowed my heart,'' Latham recalled. ``It's a sickening feeling.''

A man, later identified as Jorge Aldana, 28, of San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina

The man by the window, later identified as Juan George Solorio, 30, of Lake View Terrace fled in a white Honda hatchback, the detective said.

Meanwhile, the security guard wrote down the Honda's license plate number and called police.

A team of officers spotted Solorio, who was then riding the motorcycle, in Lake View Terrace. Solorio ditched the Harley in a ravine and ran away. Dirty and scratched, the bike was recovered.

After staking out Aldana's residence in the 1700 block of Knox Street in San Fernando, officers entered the house around 4 a.m. and found parts of a stolen Harley in the living room, Belt said. They also spotted two dozen photos of what police think are stolen Harleys displayed with apparent pride atop a fireplace mantle.

One photo showed a car, and when police checked the license plate number, they discovered the vehicle was registered to Solorio in Lake View Terrace.

Around 4:30 a.m., in the 11400 block of Sunburst Street in Lake View Terrace, police found Solorio and the night's jackpot: a garage with three complete Harleys and parts from 15 others, all stolen, police said.

The discovery included a sapphire-blue Heritage Softail from Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  and a black Ultra Classic Electra Glide from the San Fernando Valley.

At 7 a.m. Saturday police called Latham. They had found his bike.

``I'm not a crybaby, but I was choking down my heart last night,'' Latham said Saturday, retrieving his Harley. ``As soon as I get home I'm getting on my knees'' and praying.

Belt said the garage likely earned about a quarter of a million dollars reselling stolen bikes and parts in the past year.

Aldano and Solorio were arrested on suspicion of operating a chop shop and grand theft auto. Each is being held at the Van Nuys jail in lieu of $50,000.
