HARKEN ANNOUNCES PRELIMINARY RESULTS ON JARIM NO. 2 WELL

HARKEN ANNOUNCES PRELIMINARY RESULTS ON JARIM NO. 2 WELL
DALLAS, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Harken Energy Corporation

(AMEX: HEC) of Dallas today announced that the first of its three planned exploratory wells to be drilled offshore Bahrain the Jarim No. 2, has been drilled to a depth of 10,515 feet and electrical and other logs have been run.
The well, planned as an evaluation of the Jurassic Arab formation and the Permiam Khuff formation, is scheduled to be drilled to a depth of 14,500 feet. The Jurassic Arab formation was encountered in the upper portion of the well as expected and the Permian Khuff is anticipated at approximately 13,300 feet.
While drilling in the Jurassic Arab formation, the well encountered poor, dead oil stains in portions of the formation. Electrical logs run over this interval indicate that the Jurassic Arab formation is unlikely to produce oil or gas and that the Jarim No. 2 is running structurally low to the Jarim No. 1, which was drilled approximately 30 years ago.
No tests were run at this time to determine the productive capability, if any, of the Jurassic Arab zone. Such test, if justified, will be run after the well has reached total depth.
Harken plans to drill two additional exploratory wells offshore Bahrain under its Joint Operating Agreement with Bass Enterprises Production Company. Harken's seismic project on and around Muharraq Island, which is offshore Bahrain, is continuing as planned.
Harken Energy Corporation explores for, develops and produces oil and gas reserves domestically and internationally. Harken also provides oilfield services.
