Extrusion control

The Model 282-11 controller is said to meet the needs of manufacturers of tube, pipe and hose. The Model 282-11 receives diameter measurement data from a non-contact laser gauge, processes and displays the data on its color monitor See monitor. , and uses closed-loop feedback control to ensure product quality, according to according to

Control system

SmartTrac expert system software extends the applications of the company's sensor-based line of Intelligent Process Control systems. In compression, injection and other vulcanizing processes, SmartTrac provides the user closed-loop control of multiple pieces of equipment from a single control platform. Intelligent Process Control systems employing SmartTrac interface with existing press and control equipment. For injection and compression molding Compression molding is a method of molding in which the molding material, generally preheated, is first placed in an open, heated mold cavity. The mold is closed with a top force or plug member, pressure is applied to force the material into contact with all mold areas, and heat , a close-press indication is received from the existing control system. SmartTrac then monitors the change in impedance of the material being processed through utilization of electronically isolated in-mold sensors. When the predertemined end-of-cure impedance feature is recognized, an open-press signal is returned, thus ensuring consistently high and uniform product quality in the shortest possible length of time, according to the company. The technology is based on non-intrusive impedance sensors that are placed directly in the mold to detect the unique or signature data response curve of a given compound.
