HARD ROCK CAFES, CENTINELA HOSPITAL LAUNCH FREE VACCINATION PROGRAM IN
 RIOT-SCARRED NEIGHBORHOOD
INGLEWOOD, Calif., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- A mobile vaccination program sponsored by the Hard Rock Cafe and Centinela Hospital Medical Center swung into action today, when a host of celebrities and local dignitaries officially launched the program at the Challengers Boys & Girls Club in South Central Los Angeles.
The mobile vaccination program will offer free vaccinations against the most common and preventable childhood diseases, including measles, mumps, polio, tetanus, rubella, whooping cough, diphtheria and more.
On hand to help launch the program were Oscar-nominated film director John Singleton, a former member of Challengers; Michael Cooper, former Los Angeles Lakers standout; Peter Morton, founder of the Hard Rock Cafes and a major benefactor of the immunization program; City Councilman Nate Holden; Centinela Hospital Chief Executive Officer Russ Stromberg; and a host of other well-known community leaders.
Personally designed in the Hard Rock Cafe style and decorated with rock music memorabilia, the mobile vaccination van will visit and then re-visit inner city neighborhoods, where infants and children are often not immunized against the most common and deadly childhood diseases.
The program's goal is to markedly reduce the more than 50 percent of children under age 5 in Los Angeles County who have not yet been vaccinated for measles, mumps, polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, rubella and other diseases.
The vaccinations are free. No verification of income, citizenship or other documentation is required. Additional information is available on future vaccination locations by calling the Centinela Hospital Vaccination Hotline at 310-419-8633.
