HARBOUR GROUP ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION BY ROGERS TOOL WORKS
ST. LOUIS, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam Fox, chairman and chief executive of Harbour Group, today announced the acquisition by Rogers Tool Works Inc., a Harbour Group member company, of the carbide wear parts business of Hoover Precision Products Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The carbide wear parts business manufactures and sells industrial components made from tungsten carbide materials. The principal products manufactured by Hoover's business are bushings and spray nozzles sold primarily to the OEM paint and oilfield equipment industries.
Hoover is selling its carbide wear parts assets to focus on manufacturing precision balls, its primary business. Hoover is headquartered in Cummings, Ga. and manufactures wear parts in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
Rogers Tool Works is headquartered in Rogers, Ark. It manufactures a broad range of tungsten carbide products, including carbide drills, end mills and burrs sold under the RTW, Metal Removal, and Atrax brands; carbide inserts and toolholders sold under the RTW brand; the TCM line or carbide blanks; and a broad line of wear parts sold to the oilfield, plastics, and other industries. Earlier this year RTW received the first Ford Q1 award earned by a tool supplier.
Bob Britzke, president of Rogers Tool Works, said, "This acquisition complements RTW's position as a high quality supplier of carbide products. Since we are fully integrated from powder to finished product we are able to offer Hoover customers significant new capabilities, including much shorter delivery times. We look forward to serving Hoover's customers and to expanding our presence in the carbide wear parts business."
Harbour Group is a private company which acquires manufacturing companies for long-term investment. Harbour Group member companies participate in several industries, including cutting tools, industrial pumps, medical products, rubber sealing devices, aluminum master alloys, and plastic injection molding. This is the fifth acquisition that Harbour Group has announced in 1991.
