HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY SPEEDY GONZALES

 BURBANK, Calif., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Speedy Gonzales, "the fastest mouse in all of Mehico," will celebrate his 40th birthday on Sunday, Aug. 29.
 Created by Robert McKimson in 1953, Speedy debuted in "Cat-Tails for Two" and has appeared in more than 40 cartoons with such co-stars as Sylvester, Daffy Duck, the Two Crows and the world's slowest mouse, Slowpoke Rodriquez.
 In 1955, Speedy was honored with an Academy Award for his performance in the self-titled short, "Speedy Gonzales." He received Academy Award nominations for "Tabasco Road" (1957) and "The Pied Piper Guadalupe" (1961).
