HANSEN NATURAL CORP. (HANS) REPORTS NET PROFIT FOR FOURTH QUARTER AND YEAR

 ANAHEIM, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Hansen Natural Corp. (NASDAQ: HANS) today reported consolidated net income of $17,354 for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992. Consolidated net revenues for the quarter were $5,227,395.
 Hansen Natural Corp. markets and distributes Hansen's(R) Natural Sodas and Hansen's(R) Natural Old Fashioned Apple Juice and Apple Cider. The company acquired the Hansen business on July 27, 1992.
 For the year ended Dec. 31, 1992, Hansen Natural reported consolidated net income of $7,574. Consolidated net revenues for the year were $9,585,770, which includes consolidated net sales of $9,439,156 and interest income of $146,614.
 Rodney C. Sacks, chairman and chief executive officer, noted that these results include only five months of operations of the Hansen business. Sacks also noted that the positive results were achieved after absorbing a provision of $213,711 for amortization of the company's trademark license and a provision of $100,000 for obsolete inventory resulting from the redesign of graphics for Hansen's soda products in bottles and cans, as well as expenses related to the acquisition and the loss incurred by the company during the first half of the year, prior to the acquisition.
 On a pro-forma basis, assuming the company had operated the Hansen business for the entire year, consolidated net income was $776,000 for the year ended Dec. 31, 1992, and consolidated net sales were $21.3 million.
 In the fourth quarter of 1991, prior to the acquisition, the company had no revenues from operations, and its consolidated net loss for that quarter was $33,505. Consolidated net revenues for the quarter were $89,750, which comprised interest income.
 For the year ended Dec. 31, 1991, all of which was prior to the acquisition of the Hansen business, the company reported a consolidated net loss of $9,445 on consolidated net revenues of $424,018, which comprised interest income.
 On a per share basis, the company earned $.0009 for the year ended Dec. 31, 1992, and lost $.0013 for the corresponding period in 1991, based on a primary weighted-average number of shares outstanding for each of these periods of 8,563,338 shares and 7,211,628 shares, respectively.
 On a per share basis, the company earned $.0018 for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992, and lost $.0046 for the corresponding period in 1991, based on a primary weighted-average number of shares outstanding for each of these periods of 9,681,456 shares and 7,211,628 shares, respectively.
 The company's unaudited pro-forma results for the 12-month periods ended Dec. 31, 1992 and 1991, are set forth below. These results assume that the acquisition had occurred on Jan. 1, 1990, and have been prepared for comparative purposes only. They do not purport to be indicative of the results which would have occurred had the acquisition actually been made as of those dates, nor of future results.

 On a pro forma basis, sales of soda on a case and case-equivalent basis for the year ended Dec. 31, 1992, were 3,027,000 cases compared to 2,301,000 cases for the same period in 1991. For the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992, those sales were 699,000 cases compared to 610,000 cases for the same period in 1991.
 On a pro forma basis, sales of apple juice for the year ended Dec. 31, 1992, were 343,000 cases compared to 458,000 cases for the same period in 1991, and for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 1992, were 119,000 cases compared to 80,000 cases for the same period in 1991.
 Sacks stated that revenues were in line with expectations and that management is proceeding with its planned expansion into new markets both within the United States and internationally.
 He reported that the company has decided to defer discussions with a bottler who had agreed in principle to manufacture and distribute Hansen Natural Sodas in Kentucky, Minnesota and portions of Tennessee and Wisconsin. Excluding that bottler, the company has signed bottling and/or distribution agreements with 11 bottlers since it acquired the Hansen business in July of 1992. These agreements provide for the expansion of distribution of Hansen's(R) Natural Sodas into 14 additional states. Manufacture and/or distribution by these bottlers is scheduled to begin in the spring. The company's business historically had been centered in California with limited distribution elsewhere.
