HANSEN NAMED PRESIDENT OF COMMUNITY FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF FARGO

 FARGO, N.D., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas E. Hansen has been named president and CEO of Community First National Bank of Fargo, the bank's board of directors announced today. Hansen will also serve on the senior management team of the bank's parent company, Community First Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: CFBX) (CFB), according to CFB President and CEO Donald R. Mengedoth.
 Hansen has lived and worked in Fargo since graduation from the University of North Dakota in 1974. His background includes business banking, credit administration and trust. For the past four and a half years he has served as president of Norwest Bank Fargo. He graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1984.

"His thorough knowledge of the community and strong civic commitment, combined with extensive banking background and expertise, make him an outstanding addition to our organization. As president of the largest bank in the Community First group, he will be a key member of our corporate management team."
 Active in Fargo-Moorhead community affairs for many years, Hansen currently serves as vice chair of the local United Way Campaign, and as chair of the Holy Spirit Pastoral Council. In addition, he is a board member of the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA, the Northern Lights Council of Boy Scouts, the Dakota Affiliate of the American Heart Association and Pioneer Mutual Life Insurance Company.
 Hansen and his wife, Beverly, have three sons and reside in North Fargo.
